Beautiful Wedding at the Asylum!

Beautiful ukulele wedding at the asylum Peckham

Yesterday the Ukes were invited to play at a wedding at a beautiful and alternative venue.  The asylum is a chapel in Peckham, South East London, which you could say has seen better days – the decor is very much worn and run down, but it has a very beautiful feel which is altogether different from any other venue we’ve played.

The Ukes of Hazzard duo were booked to play during the ceremony – performing music for the bridal entrance, the signing of the register and the exit – before an extended set for the drinks reception.

We performed the classic ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole for the Bridal entrance, which is an alternative arrangement of the song made famous by Eva Cassidy.  During the register signing we kicked off with At Last, and then (at the request of the bride!) we went straight into Faith by George Michael which drew some chuckles from the guests!  After finishing off with I Saw Her Standing There, the newlyweds exited the chapel to Valerie.

We moved around to the front of the venue and finished the reception off with tunes by Jack Johnson, Train, Smokey Robinson and more!  Stay tuned for videos from the big day!

Ukes Rock FreFest 2016!

Ukes of Hazzard Ukulele Band England

It was with great pleasure that we took to the stage at Frefest 2016 in support of the work of local charity, the Freemantle Trust.  The quartet smashed out some great Uke-ified party songs that had festival-goers jigging and tapping away, and a great day was had by all!

We even got to meet Sylar the magician and the Mayor of Aylesbury, although she denied our request to join the band!

Stay tuned for some video from the event!
